Mines drop behind you, which makes them a defensive tool: lay one in a doorway or on a blind corner and let a pursuer find it.

Use the arena itself. The centre block and the crash barriers break line of sight, so a rocket you cannot dodge is one you can simply hide from. Drifting is not just for speed either — the boost you get from a charged drift is often what carries you out of a blast radius.
