Match the top card by color or number. If you can't play, draw one card. If it's playable, you may play it immediately.
Skip forces the next player to lose a turn. Reverse changes direction. Draw 2 makes the next player draw two cards.

Anyone can match colors — winning takes timing.
Good UNO players think a turn ahead. Do not burn your Wild and Wild Draw 4 cards early — they are your escape hatch when you are stuck with a color nobody is playing, and a well-timed Wild Draw 4 can punish the player who is about to win. Hold at least one in reserve for the endgame.
Pay attention to which colors your opponents struggle to follow. If someone keeps drawing whenever red is on the pile, steer the game toward red to keep them stuck. Shed your high number cards early, too, because if another player goes out those points are counted against you.
Action cards are weapons. A Skip or Reverse aimed at the player on your left can rob them of a turn just as they reach their last card, and a Draw 2 forces them to rebuild their hand. When you are down to two cards, plan the order you play them so your final card matches the pile color, and keep watching hand sizes so you always disrupt whoever is closest to winning.
