Classic rules, online. Race all 4 of your tokens from home to the centre before your opponents.
Roll a 6 to release a token from your home base. Roll again for a bonus turn.
Move any active token by the number shown on the dice. Tokens travel clockwise around the board.
Land on an opponent's token to send it back to their home. Safe squares protect tokens from capture.
Get all 4 tokens to the centre to win. You need an exact roll to enter — plan your moves carefully.
Dice luck gets you started — these tactics win matches.
Winning at Ludo is about far more than lucky rolls — smart token management decides most games. Resist the urge to push a single token toward home. Instead, spread two or three tokens around the board so a poor roll still leaves you a useful move, and so you always have a piece ready to capture or escape.
When you roll a 6, weigh your options carefully: releasing a new token from base builds long-term pressure, but advancing a token an opponent is about to capture can save you a punishing trip back home. Park your pieces on the starred safe squares whenever an enemy token is roaming nearby, and stack two of your own tokens on one square to form a block opponents cannot pass.
Late in the game, count the exact number of pips you need to enter the centre — overshooting wastes whole turns. And stay aggressive: when an opponent's token sits just ahead of yours, a single well-judged capture can swing the entire match in your favour.
